It's tempting to call this review "Her Best from the 80's," but Niecy had an abundance of good songs spread out over all of her 80's albums; and depending on the mood one's in, each could be considered "her best" at different times.
The bottom line is, however, that this sorely underrated disc is chalk-full of strong, alluring R&B midtempo numbers and ballads. While the lead single, "I Can't Wait," is a catchy, pop-minded ditty, the true treasures lie in the more soulful album cuts. Take the entrancing "All I Need," drenched with sparkling keyboards and heartfelt lyrics (seemingly about Williams' children); or the dreamlike "Don't Stop the Love," filled with moody Synclavier (I think) motifs and a simple-yet-heavenly chorus; or the passionate "Memories," one hell of a heartbreak tune whose melody and arrangement bears influences of classic Earth, Wind & Fire ballads.
All in all, this is a must-have for all of Niecy's fans, and fans of smooth, urban adult-contemporary. Williams left Columbia after this set, which probably explains why there weren't more singles released ("I Can't Wait" reached the R&B top 10, and the title cut peaked at #31). That leaves us with almost an album's worth of hidden treasure.
